1988 Apple Pencil Test

Stumbled on this a way back:

Beyond the fact that this is just cool, and an impressive display of 1988 computer power, there's some cool people involved.

Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall-E) is listed as both "Storyteller" and "Illustrator." John Lasseter (Toy Story, Cars) is credited as "Coach."

And there's a thanks at the end to "Chronical Features" for usage of a Gary Larson cartoon on the coffee cup:

It's hard to tell which cartoon it is, but that's a nice touch.

What a nice little piece of cartoony history!

Sorting Cartoon Results

Another new feature of the new Andertoons.com, is the ability for the user to sort their search results by recency, views, or user ratings.

You can see it on any search results page in the upper left:

Sorted Cartoons 1 Andertoons New-2

When sorting by most recent, you'll see the cartoons added to the site most recently first:

Sorted Cartoons 2 Andertoons New

When sorting by most viewed, you'll see the cartoons users have clicked on most first:

Sorted Cartoons 3 Andertoons New

And, when sorting by highest rating, you'll see cartoons users voted the best first:

Sorted Cartoons 4 Andertoons New

It's a small addition, but I think it will encourage browsing, and show you some cartoons that might have been buried deeper in the old website.

Enjoy!

Embed Cartoons

One of the features I'm proudest of on Andertoons.com, is the new Share / Embed option. It allows you to embed an Andertoons cartoon in a blog or website. It's fast, easy, and perfect for those days when you just don't feel like blogging.

You'll find it at the site underneath cartoons:

Embed Cartoons 1 Andertoons New

When you click it , you'll see a new menu that allows a number of ways to share your cartoon. The embed feature is at the bottom of this menu:

Embed Cartoons 2 Andertoons New

You can either select the HTML code yourself (make sure you get it all, or the embed won't work), or simply click the "Select All" button to the right.

Copy the HTML code, paste it into your blog or website code, and your cartoon will appear:

This is a free feature. All I ask in return is that you keep the cartoon embed code as-is.

Enjoy!

BTW, want to see an actual embedded cartoon?  Click here.
