In years past I’ve blogged a lot about my cartoon card collection, but there was always this one last set that for some reason I’d never gotten around to scanning in.
But now, just in time for Halloween, enjoy this Peanuts Great Pumpkin playing card set in its entirety!
Here’s a few more samples to whet your appetite:
Whether or not you subscribe to the idea that “content is king,” there’s no doubt that smart marketers are blogging, sharing, tweeting, pinning, and whatever-ing at a furious pace. Wouldn’t it be great to take a break from all that writing? To paraphrase the old adage, instead of cranking out another thousands words, use a custom comic instead.
I’m a big fan of well researched in-depth articles. I get excited when someone really knows what they’re talking about and digs in on a topic. That’s good print-out-and-read-later stuff. I love it!
But the content I pass along most often on social media? Fun videos, interesting pictures, and clever quips. Read, enjoy, share – it’s easy.
A custom comic is the best of both above worlds. You can get to the heart of something meaty in a way that’s quick, fun, and begging to be shared.
If you’ve spent any time in meetings recently I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of the same kind of images. Person looking confused. Co-workers looking at a laptop. Happy people shaking hands. Zzzzzzzzz…
Instead of putting your audience to sleep, engage and entertain them with something they’ve never seen before, a custom comic.
Remember that funny Darth Vader VW ad from a few years back? What about those GECIO caveman ads? Where’s the beef? Sure you do, because, according to a study by Valparaiso University psychology professor, Dr. Kieth Carlson, humor helps you to remember.
When presented with humorous motivational posters vs. the same motivational posters without humor, subjects more easily recalled the humorous examples with a 50% variance. Carlson says “That’s a very large effect to observe, as a 25 percent variance generally is considered a large effect.”
Want you or your product to be remembered? Try a funny custom comic!
So give yourself a break from all that writing and see how easy (and fun) it is to get your own custom comic that’s sharable, engaging, and memorable.
Looking for a good Halloween cartoon? You’ve come to the right place! Here’s a few of my most recent cartoons to get you in the mood!
I probably spent more time on this Halloween cartoon than I should have, but the scene was so much fun to draw! The Wolfman, Frankenstein and Dracula playing cards and reminiscing? You can’t rush that!
I’m particularly proud of the Wolfman’s flannel shirt and claws on his fingers. And that perturbed Dracula makes me laugh every time I look at it. He’s never going to live that down.
This cartoon actually went through a number of different captions right up to the end:
In the end “accounting firm” just felt right, and it seems to fit the ghost’s clothing.
I spent a fair amount of time in Photoshop on this one too. Totally worth it!
If I’m an employer I’m A) impressed with his honesty, B) a little scared, C) think he’s probably trying to pull one over on me.
I love cartoons about the little everyday moments like this.
I must have told this Halloween cartoon to my wife a good dozen times after I came up with it, and I laughed like a giddy schoolgirl each time.
A take off on the old “tell me about your mother” chestnut, but Frankenstein didn’t necessarily have a mother, right? Or maybe multiple mothers since he’s made out of… OK, I’ve officially overthought this Halloween cartoon.
I always hated this question in interviews. I’m betting he tries answering awkwardly for a few sentences then leans in and bites her on the neck. Serves her right too!
Maybe the best zombie I’ve ever drawn. OK, not maybe, the best. Just saying.
I don’t know why I’m so into vampires and business but for some reason it works. These people are all getting bitten too.
What interests me here is the time involved. If these pumpkins started their business while they were still on the vine it’s an impressive achievement. But then why and how would successful sentient pumpkins allow themselves to be carved? No wonder they’re doing so badly all of a sudden!
This cartoon was mostly an excuse to draw the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Feel free to check out my entire Halloween cartoon inventory. And happy trick-or-treating everyone!
