Hoest Original

Just picked this up off of Ebay (click for much larger images):

Hoestfront-1

Hoestback-1

I’m such a huge fan of Hoest!

The Lockhorns and especially his Parade stuff pretty much made me want to be a cartoonist.

I love the lines, the shading, the composition.. I just love Hoest.

So, when this original showed up on Ebay, I had to grab it.

Looks like it was purchased for Humorama’s Joker, but I’m having trouble figuring out which numbers are the date of the issue. Any thoughts?

(BTW, I’ve taken Hoest’s address off the back scan for privacy’s sake. Dunno if they still live there, better safe than sorry.)

Casey Shaw’s “Thurbear”

002-Thursday

One of the best parts of blogging is getting to show off how talented my cartoon buddies are.

USA Weekend‘s Casey Shaw was kind enough to throw me some gag writing work for the Sunday insert for a good while, but I’m really pleased to see his new strip, Thurbear, appearing weekly instead!

Check in on Thursdays to see new stuff. And while you’re waiting, here’s the archive so you can get caught up!

Here’s wishing Casey and Thurbear a long loooooong run!
