Talk about your heavy cartoon reading! This collection of everything Far Side creator Gary Larson published weighs enough to warrant chiropractic attention after each browsing.
To be honest, it’s almost too exhaustive to really be enjoyable! I was a huge Far Side fan like everyone else, but maybe this is just too many Far Side cartoons in one place. Every so often I read a few pages, put it down and then feel slightly guilty about spending my hundred bucks.
It’s wonderful to have on the shelf, and it’s certainly a beautiful volume, but I’m finding it hard to really delve into lately, much less simply pick up.
But, if you’re a true Far Side cartoon fan, and you own your own forklift, The Complete Far Side is a must!
There’s also a leather-bound limited edition set available for a small fortune.
A color version of one of my Thanksgiving cartoons will appear in the November issue of American Legion Magazine!
Just for fun, here’s another one of my Thanksgiving cartoons!
There’s an interesting little blurb in the May 31, 2004 issue of Newsweek about comic strips and how many current cartoonists are speaking out against the war in Iraq.
Doonsebury (of course), Get Fuzzy and The Boondocks are all chiming in against the war.
It’s nice to see cartoonists speaking up and getting some good press to boot!
A color version of one of my Halloween cartoons will appear in the October issue of American Legion magazine!
Just for fun, here’s another one of my Halloween cartoons!
Well, I’m back. I took two weeks off of gag cartooning to let my brain rest from writing cartoons for a while. It took me a day or two to get back into my old routine, but I’m feeling good and funny again.
I did sorta a goofy cartoon today about mirrors and that whole ‘objects may be closer than they appear’ thing. I wasn’t too sure about it, but I showed it to my wife and she liked it. Here it is…
Whatcha think? Too weird? I dunno. I like it, and sometimes you just gotta do cartoons for yourself too.
Anyway, it’s good to be back cartooning!
