  1. I wonder if the marketing frenzy that accompanied "Bloom County," "The Far Side," and "Calvin and Hobbes" contributed to their creators giving them up?

  2. I know Watterson had big problems with the selling of Calvin and Hobbes, so much so in fact that he threatened to quit if the syndicate pushed him on marketing I believe.

    As far as Larson goes, I really respect him going out on top. And goodness know he's made his money.

    Bloom County I LOVED as a kid. But the new Opus, and maybe it's me, but the humor seems like a photocopy of the original strip's brilliance.

    Anyway, no syndicates are knocking my door down, so I don't have to worry about it.
