Harvey Funday Cartoon Playing Cards on Flickr

2008 01 01 05 58 40.Pdf000

I picked up another deck of cartoon playing cards and posted them over at Flickr.

They’re Harvey Cartoons, and the game is apparently played like Authors, the next step in card game evolution after Go Fish crawls onto the beach.

There’s no copyright date anywhere to be seen, and the cards have a sorta curvy shape “to fit small hands.” (You know, for kids. And carnies.)

I don’t pretend to be any kind of cartoon historian, so anyone know why no Richie Rich or Casper?

Cheer-Up Playing Cards at Flickr

2007 12 17 10 35 21.Pdf000

I tell ya, since getting my new scanner, I’ve been lining stuff up to put on Flickr.

First on the list is this deck of Cheer-Up Playing Cards.  Each card has a different doctor/hospital-themed cartoon on it.

They look to be from the 1950’s or so.  The cartoonist signature is "Washaw" I think, but it only appears on the Joker card.

Anyway, go check these out if you get a chance!  They’re sure to help you feel better!

Such a Deal!

OK, I dunno that I can ever surpass last year’s gift (see cartoon chocolate bar here), but this one is pretty nice all the same.

I was looking for something outside the normal “here’s something you can eat” vein – something that people could keep around and use over and over again without being in that lame “here’s a mouse pad with my cartoon on it” vein.

So, this year it’s playing cards:

Playingcards-1

I know, I’m a little late for the whole poker craze, but these are casino quality cards with one of my most popular cartoons in a really nice clear plastic box. I’ll send ’em out in a month or so to say thanks to my clients.
