Andertoons Logo Round 1

November 6, 2007December 11, 2009 andertoons9 Comments

OK, so I’m having a logo made for all things Andertoons.

The company I’m having do it sent over a bunch of concepts this morning and these three are the ones I like the best:

Logo1

Logo2

Logo3

I wanted to make sure that whatever logo I go with can work against a darker background for the site, and whit for stationary, business cards, etc…

I think I’m leaning toward the very first one. Any thoughts? Any changes you’d make?

“Ahh, oh that’s better. I can ride a bike again.”

Logobigger-1OK, it’s not quite as funny as Krusty auditioning for a hemorrhoid cream commercial, but it’s almost that good.

Check out Make My Logo Bigger Cream!

(BTW, the timing on this is crazy as I’m having a logo created as of yesterday afternoon! SPOOKY!!!)

L’il Help

September 2, 2006February 6, 2012 andertoons

One of the things about being a cartoonist is that family occasionally asks for a cartoon or a graphic they can use.

My mother-in-law asked me a few days ago if I could throw together a quick little graphic to use for her department’s fiscal-year-end goodie bag. She said they were referring to it as their “survival kit,” so I cobbled this together in Photoshop this morning:

Blog-Survival-Kit

What’s fun about stuff like this, is I sort of get license to try out some stuff I don’t normally use. This was created entirely with shapes and text (and the hospital’s logo), which, for a vector ignorant fellow like myself, was a bit of a personal triumph. I learned a bit more about layer styles and text-to-path too, so I feel good.

I know the Survivor logo has been ripped off a million times, but I think it turned out well.

I’m Justifiable

So after looking at the new logo on the blog, I noticed that the columns in the dummy text weren’t justified as they would be in a magazine or newspaper. So here’s the newer version. Any thoughts?

My New Logo

December 20, 2005December 26, 2009 andertoons

OK, I have a lot going on, and I probably didn’t need to throw a new logo for myself on top of it, but honestly, creating it was kinda soothing.

And now, without further adieu…

So whatcha think?

I wanted something that really said gag cartoon and I think I got it.

My wife came up with the torn look, and, thanks to various web tutorials, I got the wrap & column effects. The dummy text was generated by Lipsum.com, which also has some really cool info on the history of this kind of thing.

What I find most interesting about the end product is that is doesn’t actually include any of my artwork, which, as my style continues to evolve, is actually a good thing I think.

Anyway, for those of you lucky enough to get emails, mailings or invoices from me, hope you like the new look.

(BTW, I tried a couple of logo creation sites featured in Wired first. A little advice; don’t waste your time.)
