I remember reading this elsewhere, and it was pointed out that after you finish the 20 years to become Batman, you'd burn out in a few years. It's not a sustainable condition. I'd love to see someone write a batman series just like this: 20 years to become the hero, and forced to retire, not in old age, but middle age. Perhaps sooner. It might be akin to training as an athlete for a particular sport, if that sport included knives, toxic gas, and fighting giant crocodile men.
