TV Guide recently published a list of what they picked as the top 50 cartoon characters of all time.
OK, I like any reason to bring cartoons and cartooning to the public forum, but what bothers me is that all of the top 50 are animated cartoons. Where’s Calvin?! Where’s Opus?! Where’s the Yellow Kid for crying out loud?!
I suppose I should suspect that from TV Guide, but they still didn’t phrase it very well. How about ‘Top 50 TV Cartoons of All Time’?
I am glad to see Homer Simpson in the #2 spot, however, as well as Bugs Bunny in #1. And I have to admit, I’ve even got some schadenfreude going on about Mickey Mouse being #19.
